Examination Preparation: A Complete Guide for the Physical Therapist
Published in Paperback by Mainely Physical Therapy (01 October, 1998)
Authors: Scott M. Giles and Ronda Sanders
Average review score:

This product helped me to limit my test taking mistakes
Examination Preparation allowed me develop a plan of study that was consistent with the present design of the Physical Therapist Examination. I learned what type of information was emphasized on the examination and conversely what information was not. Most importantly it gave me the confidence necessary to pass the examination on my first attempt.

Farmer Giles of Ham
Published in Paperback by HarperCollins Publishers (23 August, 1990)
Authors: J.R.R. Tolkien and Roger Garland
Average review score:

Brilliant!
Farmer Giles of Ham is one of the best short stories I've ever read. It is about Giles, a Farmer from the village of Ham, who aquires Tailbiter, a magic sword, his talking dog (animals had speech way back then, you know), dragons, and giants. The whole thing has a wonderful humorous touch that I love. While this book isn't as monumental as The Lord of the Rings, I'm sure anyone will enjoy this book.

Form and style : theses, reports, term papers
Published in Unknown Binding by Houghton Mifflin ()
Author: William Giles Campbell
Average review score:

Hard to find. . . .
Right now, Amazon and competitors are only able to get this book through used channels, but it is worth it. This book got me through college and every department wanting a different citation style. It is spiral bound, lays flat and includes the three major styles: MLA, APA and Chicago (aka Turabian). If you need a reference guide for writing papers, this is the best i've seen.

Form and Style: Research Papers, Reports, Theses
Published in Paperback by Houghton Mifflin Co (January, 1994)
Authors: Carole Slade, William Giles Campbell, and Stephen Vaughan Ballou
Average review score:

Very Useful Resource
I first discovered this book when one of my history professors recommended it. Now, I always keep it nearby when I write. It gives directions for writing great papers and contains the latest citation information for the Chicago, MLA, and APA styles (different teachers often prefer different styles). Also, Slade gives the information in a concise manner (only 297 full size pages). Because of this, I highly recommend it for those who write research papers frequently, especially college students. Here is a chapter summary:

1) Writing a Research Paper: This section explains the basics of writing a research paper and is very useful to the novice. It deals with choosing a topic, preparing a bibliography, library research techniques, organizing the paper, writing drafts, and proofreading. This chapter also includes sample research pages.

2) Elements of Theses and Dissertations: Slade tells how to write abstracts, make title pages, organize chapters, and arrange reference materials. This section also includes sample pages.

3) Quotations: This part teaches the reader how to use direct and indirect quotations, as well as proper punctuation and capitalization. She also gives examples from the 3 major styles.

4) Style and Mechanics: Slade explains in detail the style (e.g. diction, tense, unbiased language) and mechanics (e.g. spelling, italics, hyphenation) of a good paper.

5) Tables, Figures, and Computer Materials: This chapter demonstrates proper usage and placement of figures and tables (including those generated by computer). Sample figures are provided.

6) The Finished Copy: Slade recaps previous chapters, explains about equipment and supplies (e.g. paper quality) and gives typing and printing instructions.

7) Chicago Manual Style: This section explains how to do endnotes, footnotes, and bibliographies in this style. There are examples from all types of sources (books, periodicals, etc.). She even includes electronic and web sources.

8) MLA Style: Slade explains how to cite works in the text and properly create a bibliography in the MLA style. As with the Chicago, she gives examples from many types of sources, including the internet.

9) American Psychological Association Style: This section demonstrates how to cite sources in the text and the bibliography according to the APA guidelines. It too explains how to cite many types of sources, including internet and electronic.

There is an appendix that includes legal citations and state abbreviations, a glossary of terms, and an index.

Giles County Virginia Families
I have used this volume, Volume 1, for years. This history book is unlike many others because in addition to written ancestral summaries, it also has a great deal of source material, birth and death records, marriages, cemetery listings, etc. in the book. I would say that it is absolutely indispensable to anyone wanting to do genealogical reseach in Giles County Virginia. It is a tremendous asset for any researcher.

Recommended book for all PTA students
A study group of four individuals from my PTA school used A Guide to Success to help us prepare for the state board exam. We found both the academic review and sample questions to be extremely relevant to the actual examination. I would recommend the book to any PTA student preparing for this examination.

Hadewijch and Her Sisters: Other Ways of Loving and Knowing (Suny Series, the Body in Culture, History, and Religion)
Published in Paperback by State Univ of New York Pr (August, 1993)
Author: John Giles Milhaven
Average review score:

Excellent book
This book is scholarship at its best. He examines this little know tradition in Christian history with insight and in a way that makes it a resource for current cultural struggles and questions. This is not just a book for academics but good reading for anyone who is concerned with human loving and knowing. This book helped me to clarify and challenge some of the assumptions of traditional theology particularly as formulated by Aquinas.

Authors: Giles Andreae and Vanessa Cabban
Average review score:

Wonderfully sweet story
My mother bought this wonderful book for my 18-month old son and it has become one of his favorites. It is a wonderfully sweet story about the love of Grandparents for a grandchild. Several of the story items fit exactly with things my son does, making it almost seem like the story is about him. This is a book I will keep forever to remind me of what he was like as a young child.

The Idea Economy: Why Your Ideas Will Have to Create Personal Wealth & Hope in an Age of Unceuncertainty.
Published in Paperback by American Home Business Association (January, 1995)
Authors: Roger Hendrix, Rob Brazell, Giles Florence, and Scott Snow
Average review score:

Provacative and stimulating look into our economic future.
If you want a peek into the economic future, the economy that might exist beyond the service economy, then read this book. As an educator I'm looking to the future to try and understand what my students will face tens of years from now. The proposition that they would be paid for creating an idea, and implementing it in some form, rather than being employed by a business that is implementing someone else's idea, is intriguing. The fact that the Internet will provide instant access to information to use in creating or modifying an idea is already here. I can't wait to see if the authors are right
